This discoloration has upset the relationship between the image's positive and negative space and the image present no longer is representative of the original artwork. The papers used by the artist are similar yet vary slightly in thickness, texture and degree of discoloration. The media appears to have protected the paper in some areas from damage. A technical examination and scientific analysis of the artist's materials was carried out on twelve drawings of the collection. Research on other Ruskin collections in the United States and abroad was conducted to see if the discoloration was a universal problem or somehow unique to the Fogg drawings. | ||
