Rome, antiques of the Capitol, Stanza del gladiatore moribondo
This room was used to house the best of the works returned from France in January 1816, such as the Capitoline Venus and the Cupid and Psyche, until a special room could be prepared for them. Thus, Hakewill's drawing represents the situation just before the latter move.
